Robert Leroy Sealander passed away in the early hours of January 14, 2017, after a long and valiant battle with prostate cancer. He was born February 15, 1935, to Clause Victor Sealander and Edith Johannessen Sealander in Idaho Falls, Idaho. As an infant Roberts father gave him the nickname of "Spanky" which stuck with him for many years to follow.
Shortly before the birth of his brother Jon, they moved out to the family farm in the New Sweden area, where he lived until he graduated from high school.
On July 15, 1955, he married Carol Ellen Nield. They had five children. Annalisa, Hans, Svea, Klaus and Sven
Shortly after their marriage Robert and Carol moved to Aspen Colorado where they lived for the majority of the next ten years. Robert started in Aspen as a ski instructor. He later moved on to become a member of the ski patrol.
In the summer of 1965, Robert and Carol along with their children moved to Jackson Hole Wyoming where he became a founding member of the Ski Patrol at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. He was director of the ski patrol for many years and then moved on to become mountain manager.
Robert was also an accomplished carpenter and was instrumental in the designing and building of the family home near Teton Village.
Robert was also a very accomplished guitar player. He loved to play guitar and sing songs, and always encouraged others to join in.
After Robert and Carol divorced, Robert married Mitzi Bruce. That marriage also ended in divorce. After which Robert moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and realized his dream of owning his own sail boat.
After moving to Florida, he married Judy Copley. From that union was born a daughter Sky. That marriage also ended in divorce.
He then married Robin Mckay. They ended up making their home in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Robert is survived by wife, Robin of Ormond Beach Florida; daughter Annalisa (Robert) Morgan of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sons Klaus Sealander of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sven (Kimberly) Sealander of Bremerton, Washington; and daughter Sky (Jason) Richards of Oakland Park, Florida; stepdaughter Dana; and stepsons Roman and Evan, all of South Florida. Nine grandchildren, one step-grandson and 13 great-grandchildren. Brother David Sealander of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister Elisa (Darryl) Parks of Ballwin, Missouri; and Brother Karl (Evelyn) Sealander of Salem, Utah.
He was preceded in death by both parents; brother Jon; daughter Svea; and son Hans.
Robert was loved and respected by all who knew him and will truly be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society
There will be a celebration of life at the Calico Restaurant and Bar 2650 N Moose Wilson Rd, Wilson, WY, July 12, at 5 p.m..
