Robert Tabor

1939 - 2017

Robert Lee Tabor, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, surrounded by family.

Robert was born March 2, 1939, in Indio, California, to Pauline Thompson. The family moved to Merced when he was a young boy, and he graduated from Merced High School in 1957.

He joined the Navy that year and was honorably discharged with the rank of ATC 3 in 1961.

After he was discharged from the Navy, he worked for Standard Oil Company of California and then was a bar tender/manager.

He married Colleen Clary in 1962 and moved to Idaho in 1963. They had two children and were later divorced.

While in Idaho, he worked for Rogers Brothers Potatoes as a dehydrator. He then worked for Idaho Falls School District 91 as a landscaper/groundskeeper. He later managed the Red Carpet Car Wash before working for the city of Idaho Falls starting in the street department, then moving to sanitation and ending up at the sewage treatment plant.

Robert moved back to California for a short time, where he spent six years working in the wholesale dairy industry before moving back to Idaho.

In June 1996, he married Donna Berry in Idaho Falls.

He then started his career as a truck driver and retired from that in 2002. He then drove a CART Bus (which then became TRPTA) and permanently retired in 2005. He spent his remaining time harassing his grandchildren.

Robert enjoyed riding in the Bonneville County Sheriff's Mounted Posse for many years and was an active member of the Eagles Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Theresa, and her sons, Ian and Austin; his son, James (Susan), and their sons, Shelby and Chase; his stepchildren, Cindy (Shawn) Trudeau, and their children, Mia, Olive and Sage, of Washington, and Art Stark, of New Jersey; and grandchildren, Kerin, Josh and Noah, of Utah; his sister, Frankie (Bob) Bullis, of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Moody; stepfather, Charles Moody; sister, Shirley Flowers; and a granddaughter, Lilly Trudeau.
