Ruby Lorraine White Young, 83, of Plano, Idaho, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at her home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Plano to John Thomas and Rada Hunter White. She attended school in Plano and graduated from Edmunds High School. She has lived in Plano her whole life.
She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was known for her cooking talent, especially for her caramels and pies.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Lorin Young, on Nov. 27, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She has always been a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has been a Relief Society president, Young Women's president twice, and served in the Stake Primary presidency and in many other callings. Her favorite calling was teaching music to the Primary children. With her husband, Lorin, they served in the Eugene, Ore., Mission. They also enjoyed traveling extensively on six of seven continents.
She will be missed by her whole family. She will be remembered for her cheerful attitude. Even through seven years of fighting with cancer, she hardly ever complained.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Alliance Hospice for their loving care, especially Bonnie Myers and Tammy Sanders.
She is survived by her husband, Lorin; her children, Mona (Jeffrey) Walters of Rexburg, Idaho, LaRae (Brent) Parker of Plano, LuAnn (Scott) Wood of Newdale, Idaho, Cleve (Kathlene) Young of Rexburg, Idaho, Layne (Heather) Young of Draper, Utah, and Brian (Marisol) Young of Tracy, Calif.; as well as 22 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Plano LDS Chapel, with Bishop Randy Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and again from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Dear Young Family:
I, too, was saddened to hear of Ruby's passing. She was such a wonderful lady. I have so many great memories of my youth and Ruby being a big part of it, both as a leader and a friend. I pray for the Lord's blessing on you all as you pass thru this difficult time. Love, Sandi (Steel) Jones, Boise, ID.

To the Young Family:
Sis. Young was such a special lady. I remember well her and Bro. Young singing 'Beyond the Sunset' at my mom's funeral. She was always such a warm hearted loving person. May you find peace in knowing she's never far away; always in your heart.
Our prayers are with your family,
Brent & Sandy(Mortimer)Ripplinger

My parents loved your mom and dad! They spoke so highly of them and loved the get togethers they had...especially with 'the old board'. It's hard to let those we love make this final journey home but know she will live lovingly in our memories.

To the Young Family,
We were so sorry to hear of Ruby's passing. We have so many awesome memories of your family. Some of my most cherished memories involve Lorin and Ruby. I will never forget the twinkle in their eyes or their constant smiles. It was always impossible to think of one without the other. Ruby will be missed by everyone who knew her. May the Lord bless your family at this difficult time.
