Ryan Jensen Obituary

Ryan "Ole" Jensen, age 72, of Rigby, passed away suddenly on November 14, 2024 at EIRMC surrounded by his family.

Ole was born on September 29, 1952 in Rigby, Idaho to Jerry O. and Enid Jensen. He grew up in Rigby and attended Rigby High School. Ole loved fast cars and enjoyed playing basketball, and golf. In 1971, he enlisted in the Army and served his country. Although it was hard he loved his country and fellow servicemen and women. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life Cindie Hinckley. They were married in 1976 and sealed a year later in the Idaho Falls temple for time and all eternity. Cindie opened the world of horses to Ole; he found a love for cutter and flat track racing. Ole worked training race horses and pouring concrete. He knew how to work hard and built a successful concrete business that allowed him to support his family.

Ole was blessed with 5 daughters and 2 boys. They were his pride and joy. He loved supporting them in all their activities and adventures. Ole was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was kind, loving, and quite a character. As the years went on, he ventured into the barrel horse world, where he fell in love again with fast horses. If he wasn't taking care of his barrel horses you could find him on the golf course. The golf course truly was his second home with the guys in the 2 o'clock game.

Ole is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cindie Jensen, his daughters Kim (Mike) Clark, Jennifer Jensen, Angel (Jeff) Butler, Nichole (Shawn) Nordstrom, Lexie (Brian) Byrd, sons Ryan (Kim) Jensen, Greg (Rachel) Jensen, 21 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and his sister Kathy Miles. He is preceded in death by his sister Patty Jensen, his parents Jerry O. and Enid Jensen, and his in-laws Guy W. and LaPreal Hinckley

Funeral services will be held November 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the LaBelle 3rd Ward Church (4223 East 528 North, Rigby, Idaho). The family will meet with friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Eckersell's Funeral Home (101 W Main Street, Rigby), and Wednesday before the funeral from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to the VFW Snake River Post 1004.

Ole, I will miss you dearly. You were my best friend. You worked for my father moving sprinkler pipes. The last time I saw you was at my father’s funeral at Eckercel’s funeral home in Rigby. I look forward to seeing you in heaven.

Ole is the best friend I ever had. He worked on the family farm for several years. I have many more friends and family waiting to greet me when my time comes than I do still living. I’m 72, so I am obviously in my sunset years. I love all of you and our time will come soon enough. It is so nice to know that Ryan Olof Jensen will be there to greet me and show me around. I love you so much Ole.

My pain has prevented me from paying my respects to Olie. Olie lived such an adventurous life anywhere from home, construction, boating, greens, track, and stadium. Few have covered as much as territory as he. He had a warming smile and twinkle in his eye.

Ole got to be a good friend back in the late 80’s when I returned from the Air Force and started golfing again. Spent many years playing golf with and around Ole. Won some money off of him. Probably lost more. My fondest memory of Ole is me, Ole, and Jerry Simonson playing at the end of the year when the course was empty, the original 9 holes, we would tee off of #1 and go to the 4th green. Whoever won the hole would choose the next hole. Going from the 5th tee to #6 green. We discovered some interesting holes and shots that way. It was great when life was simpler. Going to miss seeing him when at Jefferson hills.

Dear Cindie and Family
We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Ole. I have known him for a very long time and remember what a cute kid he was during our high school years. He was always happy and laughing at some stunt that the 'gang' was involved in. Galen enjoyed him and valued their friendship as well. At times like this, words seem inadequate to express our thoughts and sympathy, but please know that you and your dear family are in our prayers. His legacy will live on within the Jensen and Hinckley families. With love,
