Shirley Marie Larson, 83, of St. Anthony, Idaho, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at Hospice Home in Ammon, Idaho, following a lingering illness.
She was born Feb. 2, 1933, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Vernal Leroy and Lucille Barrett Welker. She attended elementary school in St. Anthony. In 1948, the family moved to Riggins, Idaho, where Shirley attended high school. The family returned to the St. Anthony area, and Shirley graduated from South Fremont High School in 1951.
As a young woman, Shirley worked with her mother in West Yellowstone, Mont., cleaning and doing laundry for Hayward Cabins. She also worked fro a short time as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell.
She married Dale Larson on May 12, 1955, in St. Anthony. Shirley and Dale lived in the Idaho Falls area for a short time, where they had their first child, Jeffery Dale Larson. They moved back to the St. Anthony area, where Shirley had two more children, Brad Larson and Dianne Larson Stucki.
Shirley and Dale made a loving home for their family in St. Anthony, where both resided until the time of their passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernal and Lucille; a sister, Donna (Jack) Powell; a brother, Ted Welker; son, Jeff Larson; grandson, Aaron Somerville; and her husband, Dale Larson.
She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Teresa) Welker; sister-in-law, Margene Welker; son, Brad (Kristina) Larson; daughter, Dianne (Layne) Stucki; grandsons, Jason Larson, Brady Larson and Jarod Smith; and granddaughters, Misty (Grant) Carlson, Kori Larson and Jazmyn Somerville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, in St. Anthony 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E. First N., and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Wilford Cemetery.

shirley i werer next door neighbors all the time we were growing up. We swam in the canal behind our house and we slept out alot in the mummer time. WE went to ywmia together. we walked back and forth to school. We played jacks and jump roped and all kinds or out door games. we laughed alot. I am so sorry that we are gone in the winter and just learned of her passing on my computer, after returning from a trip. we would meet at times and haave a good talk and laugh some more. I loved her. lots of love and sympathy to her family. Lois quayle hanks.
