Thomas Hejtmanek died Nov. 20, 2008, at the Lost Rivers Medical Center in Arco, Idaho, of causes incident to age.
He was born March 2, 1921, in Perry, Okla. He moved to Arco in 1933, where he attended Butte County Schools. He later moved to Missoula, Mont., for work where he met Florence Frey. They were married in May 1942 in Salmon, Idaho. Shortly thereafter he joined the Air Force and spent World War II in France.
After the war he went to work at the Naval Proving Ground in the Arco Desert, now the INL, staying employed with the Atomic Energy Commission and several of its contractors until retiring in 1980. Tom was a member of the Mountain Valley Horseman's Association, enjoying their yearly horse show and the people who came by the Farmers Market at the Butte County Fair. Tom was a Past Master of the Masons.
Tom is survived by his children, Florence (Reed) Holverson of Idaho Falls, Susan (Kleal) Hill of Arco and Thomas (Barbara) Hejtmanek of Howe; a brother, Floyd Hejtmanek of Missoula, Mont.; two grandsons, Weston Hejtmanek and Kirk Robertson; four marvelous great-grandchildren, Jaden Hejtmanek, Reuben, Kassidy and Maranda Robertson. His wife preceded him in death in 1999.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Anderson Family Funeral Home, 2555 N. Highway 93 in Arco. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco.
