Trystan Elric Watters

Trystan Elric Watters, 12, Dickinson, ND, formerly of Idaho Falls, ID, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 surrounded by his family at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. Lisa Lewton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Trystan was born February 28, 2013 at 31 weeks in Idaho Falls, ID at EIRMC, the son of Matthew and Jennifer (Thompson) Watters. Trystan spent 189 days in NICU between St. Luke's in Boise, ID, Primary Children's in Salt Lake City, UT, and EIRMC. He came home on mechanical ventilation with a PEG tube. He surpassed all odds at two years and was decannulated, no longer needing a ventilator.

Trystan was adored by his peers and teachers. He moved with his family to North Dakota in 2017 where he attended Heart River and Prairie Rose Elementary Schools and was currently a seventh grader at Dickinson Middle School.

He loved camping, especially with 4-wheelers and side-by-sides. Trystan was exceptionally stealthy, running off as soon you turned away for a moment. He was adventurous and loved to play in the dirt and tall grass. He enjoyed reading all sorts of books, watching every Disney and Pixar movie, but favored Dumbo and Tarzan. Trystan's two favorite superheroes were Batman and Spiderman. He loved elephants wolves, and foxes.

Trystan is survived by his parents, Matthew and Jennifer; sister, Kiera Watters; grandpa, Jim (Regina) Watters, Idaho Falls; aunts and uncles, Alisha (Joey) Rodriguez, Brandy (Logan) Furniss, Kristopher (Maria) Watters, Jascon (Andra) Wall, Donn (Amy) Wall, Stormy Thompson, and Jaimie Thompson; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Debbie Watters, Jackie Whitehead, and Gary Thompson; great-grandparents, Walt and Doris Watters, Gary Marritt, JoAnn Bauer; great-great-grandparents, Emil and Martha Bauer; aunt, Annie Wall; step-aunt, Sarah Conduit; and cousin, Lincoln Lambert.
