Wallace Bowcutt Obituary

Wallace Roy Bowcutt, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away on April 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 5, 1964, in Spokane, Washington, Wally was raised by William Junior and Sally Bowcutt, as well as his stepfather, Stan Howerton. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Shelley High School in 1982. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, earning the Air Force Training Ribbon and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. His brothers Jared, Slade, and Adam, a rambunctious and brutally honest trio, never failed to make him laugh. Their teasing, loyalty, and energy created a lifelong bond that Wally cherished deeply. As he got older, he especially loved their family gatherings-simple meals filled with laughter, stories, and that same brotherly chaos that brought him so much joy.

Wally married the love of his life, Esmeralda Calzada, and together, they built a home filled with warmth, adventure, and unconditional love. Whether camping, road trips, or relaxing evenings with their fur child, Chase, their life was filled with joy. Weekend walks with Esmeralda and Chase were a treasured ritual.

Above all, Wally was devoted to his family. He was a proud, loving father and an incredibly playful and adoring grandfather. His love for car shows led to countless memories with Victor, where they bonded over engines, chrome, and a shared passion for the classics. With Krystin, their shared love of nature took them adventuring across the country-exploring new places, endlessly searching for petroglyphs, and wandering desert canyons and craggy ridgetops. With Crystal, Wally found comfort in the simple joys-watching movies, sharing chocolate gummy bears, and supporting each other through life's challenges while keeping their bond strong with a shared sense of humor and a touch of sarcasm. As a grandfather, Wally brought imaginary worlds to life for his grandchildren. He had a unique gift for seeing the world through their eyes and cherishing their laughter. He was always eager to share his passions and regale them with stories, leaving them with memories they will forever hold dear.

Wally valued honesty and always spoke his mind, but beneath his candid exterior was a heart of gold. He shared his truth with love and affection, always going out of his way to put his loved ones first. He worked tirelessly to support, guide, and cherish everyone who entered his life. An adventurous spirit, Wally loved hiking, cycling, and never stopped skateboarding, proving that age was just a number. He had a special fondness for classic car shows and a not-so-secret love for Peanuts cartoons. Above all, he will be remembered for his steady heart, playful spirit, and unwavering love for his family.

He is survived by his mother Sally (Randy) Simpson of Russellville, Kentucky; wife, Esmeralda Bowcutt of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughters, Krystin (Toby) Grohne of Jackson, Wyoming, and Crystal Sosa of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Victor (Cassandra) Hernandez of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brothers, Jared (Kristina) Bowcutt of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Slade (Kara) Bowcutt of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Adam (Carlena) Bowcutt of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three grandchildren, Madeleine Stacey, Ezekiel Hernandez, and Lorenzo Hernandez; and five nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Bowcutt and his stepfather, Stan Howerton.

Wallace's light lives on in the memories he created, the love he gave, and the family who will forever carry him in their hearts.

Private family services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.

I just found out about Wally passing away and I am so shocked. Wally was married to my Sister Mandy. He was the greatest person. So kind, thoughtful and easy going. Wally was so talented and could do many things. When he and Mandy came to visit me in Georgia when they were married I had just moved to a new home, Wally volunteered to hang all my Window Blinds for the house. As he loved any racing my son really liked NASCAR and Wally was a good companion to have this interest with. When my son died Wally was there at the hospital and such a compassionate person. I had thought in a year or so visiting the west I could stop by and visit Wally. Hard to believe he and Mandy died within 3 years of each other. My sympathy to his wife as she lost a great person. He enjoyed his brothers as they were a pack. He had a great mother Sally and he was so proud of Krystn. Sympathy to all family members.
