Anita Ranado Obituary

Anita Louise (Beaudette) Ranado

October 13, 1941 - November 1, 2024

"She loved people so much that her soul became a garden where friends and family could find warmth and peace."

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anita Ranado, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 1, 2024, at the age of 83. Though her heart always belonged to Corinth, NY, and the Adirondacks fondly known as "her mountains." Anita spent her final years in Buffalo, NY, with her daughter Caryn and son-in-law Bill. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will inspire all who knew her.

Anita epitomized selflessness, dedicating her life to her family, community, and faith. Deeply devoted to the Corinth Catholic Church, she channeled her passion into teaching and service. After graduating from D'Youville College in 1963 with a BA in History, she began her teaching career in Missouri, where she was an active supporter of the Civil Rights Movement. Later, she taught in Buffalo, NY, before joining the Hadley Luzerne Central School District, where she shared her love for history with middle and high school students for over 35 years. Whether through her community and church involvement, dedication to education, or cherished homemade recipes (many from her beloved crockpot). Anita's warmth and generosity touched everyone she met.

On August 6, 1966, Anita married Charles Ranado, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and joy. Together, they raised three children--Marilouise (Dan), Caryn (Bill), and Charlie (Tami)--who remember her as their fiercest supporter and most trusted confidant. Her grandchildren, Ethan, Sarah, Katie, Grace, Ashe, Mazlen, and Lucia, will forever cherish her stories, the funny and memorable t-shirts she made for them, and her endless hugs and wise advice. She is also survived by her older brother, John, and younger brothers, Frank and Joe, who will always remember Anita as a loving and devoted sister.

Anita's love extended beyond her family. As a devoted volunteer at her local church and a lifelong teacher, she believed that the greatest gifts we can give are time and kindness. She cherished simple joys: the beauty of autumn leaves, visits to Fo'Castle Farm Country Store, trips to see the NYC Ballet at Saratoga, views of the Hudson River from the top of the school hill, and shopping at Wegmans. Above all, she treasured time with her family. Her radiant smile, unwavering faith, loving and thoughtful emails, and ability to make anyone feel at home will be remembered by all.

The family is deeply grateful for the love and support received during this time and invites all who knew Anita to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to the world. Details for a memorial Mass will be shared in the Post Star and Corinth PennySaver. In honor of Anita, please consider a donation to your local hospice, or the Buffalo Hospice, which was a great comfort to her and her family.

My Mom was one of the most beautiful people I know. She was kind and caring, loving and gentle , compassionate and wonderful. She loved all of her family and friends with her whole heart and was a light on the darkest of days. We miss her, and think of her often, remembering her stories and tales of days past.

Anita was my Mom´s cousin and was so kind to visit my mom at home at the end of her life here on earth. I will always be grateful to her for bringing my Mom communion, when she was not physically able to get to the Catholic Church. Anita shared stories with me and my siblings about our mother in younger years too, My condolences to her family. I am so sorry for your loss. RIP Anita.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Anita. She was such a lovely woman and amazing teacher. She was a great storyteller too, always holding our interest and bringing history to life. I consider her one of my very best teachers. In later years I would occasionally see her in Topps and she would always stop and visit. Such fond memories of a wonderful woman. Prayers to all the family, may God comfort you as He welcomes your dear loved one home.

She was my favorite teacher not only in middle school, but high school as well. I was one of the special people she got to teach twice. I remember her time capsule she assigned to me in 8th grade. Then made us open it in 11th grade. She was one of a kind. I also will never forget having to protect my egg from other students. Little Marine, as I liked to call her, earned and deserved everyone's respect, not only for the way she taught us, but because of the person she was. Thank you Anita, for the life lessons, and your kind but firm teaching methods. You will be missed by many. God Bless your family.

Anita was a very special lady. I loved spending time with her at church functions, especially "free lunch". Her soups were amazing. She loved being a lector, teaching religious education, and welcoming new parishioners. She continued her pearls of wisdom after she moved via email. I will miss her. We have another angel watching over us.
