Charles DeYoung Obituary

Charles "Chuck" J. De Young, Jr.

September 24, 1940 - September 29, 2024

BOLTON - Charles "Chuck" J. De Young, Jr., 84, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.

Born September 24, 1940, in Montclair, NJ he was the son of Charles J. De Young, Sr. and Marie (Dykstra) De Young. He was raised in Little Falls, NJ.

Chuck graduated from Passaic Valley High School in 1958. He then served in the United States Air Force from February 10, 1959 until February 9, 1962.

Following his Military Service, Chuck proudly followed in his Grandpa De Young's footsteps, working as a Lineman, Splicer, and Conduit Inspector for Bell Atlantic, which he fondly referred to as "Ma Bell." He retired in 1995.

He met his wife, Christine J. Puzio during a Christmas leave from the Air Force following her graduation from college. They were married on June 29, 1963, and just celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. When asked, "what's the secret in your marriage?" his answer was always, "the Lord Jesus is the head of our home."

Chuck had a strong faith in the Lord, who was the backbone of his life. He served in many capacities to honor and glorify God. He served as Deacon, Elder and choir member at the Second Reformed Church in Little Falls. When he moved to the Adirondacks, he became a member of the Redeemer Reformed Presbyterian Church in Queensbury. He enjoyed studying the Bible with other men of the church and loved singing in the choir. Chuck helped begin and lead the monthly nursing home ministry at The Glens Falls Center. It was his joy to share the gospel with the residents and sing favorite hymns together.

Some of his enjoyments in life were fishing, gardening, hunting (especially with his son and bird dog), lending a helping hand, smoking meats, cooking, and coffee with friends.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Christine De Young; son, Charles "CJ" J. De Young III; and his sister, Marianne (De Young) DeLorenzo.

Visitation will take place Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Reformed Presbyterian Church, 548 Luzerne Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Ned Suffern officiating.

Family and friends are invited to share in a repast at the church from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. prior to burial.

A graveside ceremony with Military Honors will be held immediately following the repast at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871.

In loving memory of Chuck, contributions may be made to the Redeemer Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Condolences and floral arrangements may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.

Chris and family, Bruce and I were so sad to hear of Chuck´s passing. He was our first neighbor that we met when we bought 21 years ago, and then he helped take down a beastly building we had here all afternoon with my husband and son. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Chuck.
