David Allen Rabideau Sr.
March 16, 1948 - November 13, 2025
FORT ANN - David Allen Rabideau Sr., 77, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on March 16, 1948, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Kenneth Winslow Sr. and Forrestine Putney.
David enlisted in the United States Army in 1965. During his service, he earned an Associate's degree, which qualified him to serve as a military medic. He continued his career as a medic at various military hospitals for twenty years until his retirement in 1985. Additionally, he was awarded the Purple Heart for saving a life.
On May 24, 1968, David married the love of his life, Thekla Wallner, in Mainz, Germany. In 1979, David and Thekla renewed their vows at the Community Chapel of West Glens Falls with all their children present.
David was passionate about the outdoors and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending weekends at his son Allen's camp. Above all, David cherished the time he spent with his family.
He was a former member of VFW Post 6196 in Queensbury. He was also a dedicated member of the family hunting club for many years, enjoying the tradition alongside his brothers.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his siblings, Mike, Carl, Cassius and Sally, and his son-in-law, Allen Redding.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Thekla; his children, Denise Rabideau and her significant other, Lynn Haggerty, Sandra Redding, David Rabideau II and his wife, Keri, Allen Rabideau and his wife, Clara; his grandchildren, Kayla, Brandy, Sabrina, Brendon, Julia, Aiden, Alysa and Kayla; his siblings, Kenneth Winslow Jr., Stella Dickenson and her husband, John, Raymond Putney and his wife, Karen; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
A Memorial Service will be conducted following the calling hours at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rite of Committal will be private and at the convenience of the family.
