Edward Dunlap Obituary
POULTNEY, Vt. * Edward R. Dunlap, age 68, of Poultney, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Edward was born in Rutland, Vt., on March 13, 1938, son of the late Raymond and Pauline (Root) Dunlap.
He was a graduate of the West Rutland High School, Class of 1956.
Edward married his wife, Loretta on Dec. 30, 1960.
He was one of the co-founders of the Northern Slate Co. along with his brother-in-law, Carl Ruby and good friend, William Ruby. Edward was best known as "One of the Best Rock Men of his Era."
Edward was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports on television.
He is survived by two sons, Neil Dunlap of Poultney, Vt., and James Dunlap and his wife, Jeanean, of Wells, Vt.; one sister, Nancy Ruby and her husband, Carl, of Fair Haven, Vt.; one grandson, Taylor Dunlap of Wells, Vt.; four granddaughers, Melissa Dunlap of Poultney, Vt. Meaghan Dunlap of Poultney, Vt., Alison Dunlap of Wells, Vt., and Amanda Dunlap of Wells, Vt.; one great-grandson, Jacob Vanderminden of Poultney, Vt.; one uncle, Will Root and his wife, Joan, of Mechanicville; and also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by his faithful companion, his chocolate lab, Josie.
Edward was predeceased by his wife, Loretta Dunlap in 2004; one sister, MaryLou Sgueglia; and one nephew, Stephen Sgueglia.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.
