Eric Nelson
May 26, 1961 - Feb 21, 2026
Eric Nelson, 64, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on May 26, 1961, Eric was the beloved son of Marion and Robert Nelson, both of whom predeceased him. He was a graduate of Shaker High School in Latham, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
Eric will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, companion, brother, and friend. His life was defined by his deep love of family, steady dependability, and a quick wit that could light up any room. With his sharp sense of humor and easygoing nature, he had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.
He built a successful career in sales, where his strong work ethic, natural ability to connect with people and steady determination earned him both respect and lasting relationships. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and a sharp eye for opportunity, which led him to invest in and manage multiple rental properties over the years. One of his greatest professional joys was owning and managing the Rondack Motel in Bolton Landing.
A true jack of all trades, Eric could fix or build nearly anything. He loved renovating houses and was rarely idle; there was always something to repair, improve, or tinker with. Known for his remarkable sense of direction, he seemed instinctively able to find his way anywhere-a small but meaningful testament to the steady and reliable way he navigated life itself.
Eric found his greatest joy in time spent with family. He treasured days on his boat on Lake George, relaxing by the pool in the sunshine, and cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren's sporting events. Whether on the water or at a game, these simple moments brought him immense happiness.
He is survived by his loving children, Jessica White (Heath) of Queensbury and Brad Nelson (Samantha) of South Glens Falls; and by his cherished grandchildren, Colin, Emmitt, Ava, Charlotte, and Wyatt. He is also survived by "his person", Lisa Fraser of Richmond, Mass., who was a treasured part of his life; his siblings, Kim Mitchell (Robert) of Swanzey, N.H.; David Nelson (Jill) of Gainesville, Fla.; Matthew Nelson (Kim) of Palos Verdes, Calif.; and Elizabeth McKay (Joe) of Utah; along with many nieces, nephews, and the extended Long Island Nelson family.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital for their compassionate care, and especially to Dr. Yun, whose unwavering support and understanding meant so much during this time.
Eric's legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
