Eric Stutz Obituary

STILLWATER -- Eric L. Stutz, 42, of County Road 75, died suddenly on Monday, March 14, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after being stricken while ice fishing at Kattskill Bay, Lake George. His death was attributed to natural causes.

Born Jan. 3, 1963, in Cambridge, he was the son of Mrs. Helga Stutz Miller of Lake George and Jacksonville, Fla., and the late Robert Stutz.

A 1982 graduate of Schuylerville Central School, Eric also attended college in Maine.

For more than 20 years, Eric worked for the New York State Department of Transportation's Saratoga County District in Saratoga Springs as the building maintenance supervisor. He also worked part-time for Allerdice Express Hardware store in Saratoga Lake.

An active member of the Sons of American Legion Post 490, Stillwater, Eric also was a former Elk and a former volunteer fireman in Schuylerville, Stillwater and Cossayuna. A sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling with his wife and friends, loved to cook and was known to be a "jack of all trades," who could fix and repair anything for anyone.

Survivors, in addition to his mother include his wife, Margaret Cobb Stutz, whom he married July 23, 1994; a son, Geoffrey Pashley; a brother, Robert Stutz of Waterford; his stepfather, Charles Miller; his mother-in-law, Cathy (William) Cobb D'Ambro of Stillwater; his sister-in-law, Kathleen Belmonte of Clifton Park; his brother-in-law, William Cobb of Clifton Springs; and nieces and nephews, Patricia, Chelsea, Nicholas, Jeremy and Courtney.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St., Mechanicville.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Sons of the American Legion (SAL), Post 490, Lake Street, Stillwater, 12170, in fond memory of Eric L. Stutz.
