J. Monty Parsons

LANTANA, Fla. -- A graveside service to inter the cremains of Monty Parsons will be held at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. Monty passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at his home in Lantana, Fla., after a long illness. He was under the care of Hospice of Palm Beach County.

Monty was born on Nov. 10, 1938, in Glens Falls, and graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1956, where he played baseball and was co-captain of his 1955 undefeated football team. He went on to play semi-pro football. He spent his career in lumber and building material sales, during which he relocated to Florida in 1975.

He enjoyed being around his family. He loved football. He was an avid Patriots fan. He also enjoyed car racing, especially NASCAR. He went to many races at Daytona. Before his health deteriorated he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and dining out.

Monty was preceded in death by his father, Paul H. Parsons, and his brother, Paul Cary Parsons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Johanna (Jennings) Parsons; his daughters, Cindy of New York, Sarah Green and her husband, Pat, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Katie McKee and her husband, Tom, of Wellington, Fla.; his son, Paul and his wife, Tina (Callahan), of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; his mother, Helen Parsons Haskell of Lake Worth, Fla.; and his grandchildren: Ashley, Miranda, Andrew, Morgan and Alexandra of Lake Worth and Wellington, Fla. He is also survived by two nephews and several cousins from the Glens Falls area.
