James Dennis Bovee, 74, passed peacefully on November 19, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL, surrounded by love.
Born on June 13, 1951, Jim grew up in Queensbury, NY, with a quick wit, a kind heart, and an easy laugh that stayed with him his whole life. A 1969 graduate of Queensbury High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1971, where he proudly served for 13 years as a sonar technician. Jim carried a deep sense of pride in his military service, often sharing stories that blended equal parts humor, adventure, and humility.
After the Navy, Jim built a long career as a field technician, working for companies such as Allen Bradley, Eaton Corporation, Siemens, and Robicon. He had a way of solving problems that others couldn't-and doing it with the kind of patience and steadiness he was known for.
Outside of work, Jim filled his life with the things that made him happiest: a sunny day on the golf course, a strong game of pool, blasting classic rock(especially Neil Young),riding his bike, strumming his guitar, or tackling his daily crossword puzzle with the seriousness of a competitive sport. He had a lifelong love for Corvettes, especially the sleek, classic models from the 1960s; nothing could make his eyes light up quite like the rumble of a vintage engine. And we can't forget his love for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team!
Jim's life was marked by deep love as well as profound loss. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Ellie, his daughter Angel, and his son JD. Though those losses weighed heavy on him, he carried their memories forward with strength and grace.
Those left to honor his memory include his sisters, Mary Cameron of Canyon,Texas, Joan Bovee of Queensbury, and Lois Bovee of North Port, FL, followed by his Nephew Nick Bovee, Niece Katherine Mathis (Ernest) of Canyon,TX, and his great niece Yvonne of Clarkesville,GA (along with her family)and great nephew Tyrese of Phoenix ,AZ.He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ferris, and her husband James, of Glens Falls,NY and his granddaughters, Addison and Chloe Ferris, he loved watching them grow and cherished every moment he had with them.
A service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the
Alzheimer's Association or to Tidewell Hospice, whose care and compassion meant so much during Jim's final days.
