James Parillo Obituary

Ballston Spa James F. Parillo Sr., 92, of Ballston Spa, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Wesley Health Care Center. Born in Ballston Spa on June 21, 1916, he was the son of the late Frank and Fannie Parillo. Jim was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He worked for REA Express of South Glens Falls for more than 30 years and was also a dispatcher for the Lake George Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1972. He assisted in the operation of Scotty's Restaurant in Wilton for many years. Jim was a 50-year member of Eagle Matt Lee Fire Co. No. 1 in Ballston Spa. He was a high school basketball referee and a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. He was also involved in the equestrian circuit and participated as a steward in many horse shows. He was predeceased by his wife Helen E. Marra Parillo, brother Tony Parillo and four sisters, Rosalie Parillo, Carmel Parillo, Mary Frandino and Frances Davis. He is survived by his children Frank Parillo and his wife, Delores, of Malta, James Parillo Jr. and his wife, Catherine, of Saratoga Springs, and Karen Parillo of Ballston Spa; Five grandchildren, Tina Nigro, Scott Parillo, James Parillo III, Michael Parillo and Christopher Kowalski; Four great-grandchildren, Scott Parillo Jr., Kyran Nigro, Dawson Nigro and Leah Nigro; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Health Care Center, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
