Kathilyn Louise "Kat" Williams
June 28, 1945 - August 27, 2025
Kathilyn Louise Williams, of Gulph Mills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, August 27th. A resident of the Glens Falls area for over 50 years, Kat moved to Pennsylvania at the end of 2022 to be closer to her children, Nicole and Trevor. She was brought home to be buried beside the love of her life, her husband, the late Nathaniel Thomas Williams. While known as "Nate" or "Nat" by many, she and most family members called him "Tom".
Born on June 28, 1945, in Washington, D.C., Kat was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Emma Lou Woodard. At an early age, her family moved to New York City, where she completed her education, graduating from Central Commercial High School in Brooklyn, NY, in 1963. She joined the United States Air Force that same year.
She met and married Tom in the Air Force, and after serving her country, she moved to his beautiful hometown of Glens Falls to raise a family. While working full time, she attended Adirondack Community College, graduating in 1976 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science; an impressive achievement for an African-American woman in the 1970s.
She loved her family deeply and was active in all of her children's activities as they were growing up, as well as those of her grandchildren. Many hours were spent at Boy and Girl Scout events, track and cross-country meets, basketball games, and countless other activities that her children were involved in.
Kat worked as a Revenue Officer for the Internal Revenue Service before retiring after 23 years. She excelled at her job. Even after retirement, she frequently encountered taxpayers she had worked with who expressed their appreciation for the compassionate way she assisted them. Prior to her IRS career, she was employed by Crown Zellerbach, which was later acquired by James River.
During retirement, Kat became an active volunteer at various local organizations through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Warren County. She felt fortunate to be able to help others and relished every opportunity to do so.
Kat had a zest for life. She loved traveling by plane, boat, train, bus, or car. It didn't matter; she enjoyed exploring and always looked forward to her next trip. Some of her top adventures included Costa Rica and Hawaii, though she equally enjoyed her travels in the lower 48. Memorable domestic trips included Nashville, Tennessee, to visit Graceland among other stops; Las Vegas, Nevada, to see shows with her daughter Nicole and niece Mary; and Lancaster, Pa., to explore Amish life and attend shows at the Sight And Sound Theater.
In addition to her husband of 39 years and her parents, Kat was predeceased by her sister, Kim ("Tee") Koonce, and her brother, Richard Louis Woodard.
Survivors include: Thomas M. Williams and his partner, Tricia Shultes of Loudonville; Trevor M. Williams and his wife Julie of Radnor, Pa.; daughter, Nicole T. Williams of Springfield, Pa.; granddaughters, Naylah R. Williams of Philadelphia, Pa., and Hannah M. Williams of Radnor, Pa.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, with Pastor Arnold Byrd officiating.
Burial will follow at the Glens Falls Cemetery at 460 Bay Street.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 11 a.m. until the time of the service (12 p.m.).
