Mark Round Obituary

Mark Bernard Round

January 24, 1956 - September 17, 2024

QUEENSBURY - Mark Bernard Round, 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his home, from complications of kidney disease.

Born on January 24, 1956 in Nuremberg, Germany, he lived most of his life in the Glens Falls, Warrensburg, and Queensbury areas.

Mark attended Glens Falls High School, graduating with the Class of 1974, who just celebrated their 50th high school reunion in August. He attended SUNY Plattsburgh, graduating in 1978. Mark retired from the Warren County Department of Public Works, and was able to travel many roads throughout Warren County during his time spent there.

Mark was a dedicated and loving husband of 21 years to Dale Round. He was a loving brother, father and grandfather. He had fond memories of his 1973 Glens Falls Football team and would tell them to anyone who would listen! He was a coach of many years, coaching all three of his sons in Warrensburg. Watching his children compete throughout their high school careers and every summer were some of his greatest memories. He loved watching the NCAA basketball tournament, his UConn Huskies, along with being an avid watcher of the New York Yankees.

After retirement, Mark moved to Queensbury to spend time with his grandchildren. Often, grandpa could be found in his car listening to music or sports radio, but he also spent time with his grandkids to teach them life lessons, talk about their day, or tell them all of the great stories that he had.

Mark was a friend to all, always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need. He touched all the lives he met, both young and old. His big blue eyes, warm ways and infectious smile, all of the time covered by his beard will be sorely missed. The world has lost a true brother, father and grandfather, but God must have wanted to reunite him with his son, Benjamin.

In addition to his parents, George and Mary Lou Round; his beloved son, Benjamin Round; and his sister in-law, Susan Round predeceased him.

He is survived by Dale ("D") Round; his son and Benjamin's twin, Adam (Silen), and their four children: Benjamin, Lilly, Ivy, and Aidan; his son, Daniel and Daniel's son, Miles; his siblings: John (Sue) Round of Charlestown, R.I., Martha (Tony) Summa of Syracuse, Jim (Patty) Round of Glens Falls, Chris (Denise) Round of Queensbury, Nick (Terri) Round of Lake George; several nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 23 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Rd, Queensbury, NY 12804 with a funeral service to be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benjamin Round Scholarship Fund c/o Adam Round, 5 Oakwood Drive, Queensbury, NY 12804.
