Phyllis LaTour Obituary

TICONDEROGA * Phyllis Marie LaTour, 79, of Wayne Avenue, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Aug. 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Lanese) Gilbert.

Mrs. LaTour lived in Ticonderoga for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga and served as the Church's organist for more than 25 years.

She was a graduate of Plattsburgh Normal School, which is currently Plattsburgh State University.

Mrs. LaTour taught fifth grade in the Ticonderoga Central School District for more than 30 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, James F. LaTour, on March 8, 1990. She was also predeceased by her stepson, William LaTour.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bruce Hunter of New Fairfield, Conn.; one sister, Arlene Colburn of Ogdensburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Northeastern New York, 3 Winners Circle, Suite 300, Albany, NY 12205 or St. Mary's Church, 22 Father Jogues Place, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.

Susan,



My deepest sympathy to you and your family with the death of your mother. I remember your mom as a teacher when I was in fifth grade and also as a neighbor. I will keep you and your family in my prayers during this very difficult time. God Bless.
