Robert Dalaba Obituary

Robert Earle Dalaba

January 27, 1937 - December 16, 2025

Robert Earle Dalaba went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2025, after residing at the Washington Center Nursing Home in Argyle, N.Y. Bob previously resided in Queensbury, N.Y., for 65 years with his wife, Elizabeth A Dalaba.

He was born on January 27, 1937, in Warrensburg, N.Y. Born to (the late Addison and Hazel (Reynolds) Dalaba.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth A. Dalaba (Lashway); his aunt, Doris Middleton; his uncles, Leon Reynolds, Gordon Reynolds, and Richard Dalaba; sisters-in-law, Helen Eyth, and Jeanne Romanelli; his brothers-in-law, Kenneth Lashway, and Richard (Dick) Lashway; and his son-in-law, Joseph Polunci.

Bob is survived by his sisters, Damaris (John) Graham of Hudson Falls, and Marcia Brown of South Glens Falls; brother, Dale from Glens Falls; his four children, Linda Polunci of Queensbury, Michael (Sarah) Dalaba of Glens Falls, Carrie (James) Duell of Corinth, and Scott (Angela) Dalaba of Florida; six grandchildren, Stacey (Gregory) Gillingham, Chasity (Clarence) Beames, Jerry Dalaba, Casey Klem, Derek Hazelton (Rachel Mitchell), and Ashley (Malcolm) McShinsky; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, all of whom he loved very much. As well as several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, all who will never forget him.

First and foremost, Bob was a giver. Whether it be at Pine Knolls Alliance Church attending services, enjoying the fellowship of others or starting Nursing Home Ministries at various area nursing homes. Each summer, he would attend Family Camp at Delta Lake Bible Conference Center in Rome, N.Y. He loved to sing and he always joined the choir. He made many friends there while eating meals with his sister, Marcia, at her cottage. He loved the Lord and wanted to share that with everybody!

Bob served as a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for many years. He loved the interaction with all the people he came into contact. On more than one occasion, he saved someone's life by simply caring and taking that extra moment to realize "something is not right". In 2008, he was voted Meals-on-Wheels Volunteer of the Year for New York State, where he was recognized with a luncheon and a plaque.

Bob also served his community as a volunteer fireman at Queensbury Central Fire Company for many years.

Bob had many nicknames over the years, Bob, Bobby, Red, Big Red, Big Red Machine, and Mr. "D" are just a few. His favorite was Dad to his four children and the many children his wife (Liz) babysat over the years. He was an avid bowler and played in several leagues over the years. Bob also loved to attend the various sporting events and competitions which the youngsters in his family participated in.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Washington Center, especially those on the Hillview Unit and Physical Therapy Team for the exceptional love and care shown to Bob during his stay.

I have met Bob (Big Red) by knowing his son, Scott and his daughter in law, Angela. So I know that he was full of love and light.
I am grateful he had a long successful life.
His legacy will continue forever.
