Roger Allen Obituary

Roger Burton Allen

January 30, 1939 - May 2, 2025

Roger passed away peacefully, with his oldest son Glenn by his side, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa (G'pa). He truly loved and cared for his entire family. He was born and raised in Glens Falls, N.Y. by his parents, William Henry Allen and Blanche (Webb) Allen along with his five brothers and sisters. As a young man, Roger worked as a paper boy and as a soda jerk at a local ice cream shop. After graduating from Glens Falls high school, Roger enlisted in the US Navy Seabee's unit where he was a heavy equipment operator.

When he returned home from the service, he met the love of his life, JeanAnn Hart at a local barn dance. They married on March 19, 1960. They spent 35 wonderful years together before cancer took her from him in 1995. He was a proud dad to Glenn, Kathy and Jay, grandpa to six and great-grandpa to five. Roger worked for the Coca-Cola plant of South Glens Falls for over 30 years. He was a devout Christian and sang in the church choir at the SGF United Methodist Church. He did many things for his church and community. He was the first to sponsor the SGF dance marathon through Coca-Cola. He was always there to help his family, friends and neighbors. After retiring from Coca-Cola in 1994, he and JeanAnn moved to Clayton, N.C. He started working at Security Solutions (SSI) doing sales and design. Later, after losing JeanAnn, he took a job with Dalton Engineering, where he was the office manager among the many other tasks he did. Roger is predeceased by his parents, Blanche and William Allen. Three brothers, Gerald, William, and Harold "Butch" Allen; and his daughter-in-law, Patty (Leonard) Allen. He is survived by his sisters, Norma Calkins and Patricia Robichaud. His children, Glenn, Kathy (Walt) and Jay. Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Per Roger's wishes, there will be no service. However, one of his favorite things to do was to go to Dunkin' Donuts each morning. He requests that if you would like to remember him in some way, go out to breakfast and get some coffee and donuts, and just spend some time with your family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to the. Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163. You may also donate online at www.michaeljfox.org.

While I was never attached to the "Bees", I did get to hang out with a few while over seas. Good group of guys who knew their stuff. Want to say thank you for your service. You are relieved. Wishing you Fair Winds and Following Seas.
