Rose Welch Obituary
May 27, 1940 - February 28, 2025
Schroon Lake - Rose Nancy "Dumar" Welch, 84, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at her daughter Sandra's home with her loving granddaughter, Samantha, at her side for her final moments on earth. She was also well loved by her great-granddaughter, Sage.
Born on May 27, 1940 on Fischer Hill in Mineville, N.Y. Nancy was the daughter of William and Frances (Brooks) Dumar. She was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School, Class of 1957. After graduation, she married Clarence Welch. She worked for many years as a waitress in local establishments, including the original Frontiertown Restaurant, where she worked with several of her sisters. After raising her family, she also worked for many years as a dental assistant for Dr. Sheridan Albert, in Schroon Lake. She also lived in Tarpon Springs, Fla. for several years, where was CNA at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, William Dumar, Jr. and Thomas Dumar; her sisters, Katherine (Dumar) Moynihan, Margaret (Dumar) Kolodzey, Justine "Ann" (Dumar) Welch, Teresa (Dumar) Shufelt; her twin infant siblings, Etta and Edward Dumar; her former husband, Clarence Welch; and her parents-in-law, Peter and Edna (Shufelt) Welch.
Nancy is survived by her children, David Welch of Ticonderoga, Elizabeth Welch of Comstock, Peter "Rusty" Welch of Saratoga, and Sandra (David Zido) Wallace of Nassau; her grandchildren, Osaunnia (Chelsey) Hart, Samantha (Trevor Goodermote) Welch, Brandi Planty, Benjamin Planty, and Hailey Rose Welch; her great-grandchildren, Harmony Hart, Melody Hart, and Sage Goodermote; her sisters, Marion (Dumar) Noel of Ticondergoa and Carol (Dumar) Roth of Schroon Lake. She also had many nieces and nephews who viewed her as a gentle soul with a heart of gold.
The family would like to thank Brenda Bessey, Nancy's lifelong friend, who was always there for her.
At Nancy's request, there will be no services and arrangements will be made at the convenience of Sandra and Samantha.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Nancy's honor be made to the Schroon Lake Fire Department, 28 Industrial Dr, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
