There are no words that can ease your sorrow but know that Uncle San will be remembered and will be in our hearts always. We think of you often and remember the only too few times we were able to get together. I have started the letter I spoke of and will be adding more as the days go by. I think Uncle San is looking down on us and smiling. And I am smiling back and glad to have known him. Renee

My sincerest condolences. I came to know Sanford while working as a Captain for Shoreline Cruises and worked with him on numerous projects through my 12 years there. Sanford was an amazing welder and fabricator and was truly an artist in all respects whether it be working with metal or painting flowers and birds. He taught me a lot while I worked with him as he was always happy to show me how to do something. And as a man who could have been home enjoying retirement, he showed me what true work ethic is as he still came into work even when he was in pain and hurting up until he finally retired a few years ago. If there was ever a true Rennaisance Man, Sanford was it!! Sanford was a genuine man with the kindest heart who was too modest to see how great he really was to the rest of us. He will be greatly missed. Again, to the family of Sanford Dowmont, my deepest and sincerest condolences.
