Thomas Ryan Obituary

Thomas F. Ryan

Feb. 25, 1949 - Dec. 18, 2020

GLENS FALLS - Thomas F. Ryan, 71, our loving brother, passed away and is now reunited with his soul mate, Tom, on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born on February 25, 1949 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Paul H. and Beatrice Irene (Murray) Ryan Sr.

Thomas was a 1968 graduate of South Glens Falls High School. In 1969, he enlisted and proudly served in the US Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, he started his own business, Thomas & Thomas Paint in Glens Falls and continued to run it for over 40 years.

He enjoyed going to the track and casino, loved traveling and most of all spending time with his family. Tom was a jack-of-all-trades and will be dearly missed.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his partner, Thomas Bissonette; his sister, Karen Lynn McAuley; his brother, Mark K. Ryan; his nephew, Nathan Brown; faithful companion, Armstrong; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Bissonette and Tasha Ryan; and brother- in-law, Louis J. Miranda, Jr.

Survivors include his siblings: Paul (Nancy) Ryan of South Glens Falls, June Ryan (John) Morse of Lorain, OH, Cynthia Ryan Miranda (Michael T. Marra) of Mechanicville, Robert Ryan of South Glens Falls, and Kathy Ryan (Rick) Brown of South Glens Falls; sisters-in-law: Sandra Bissonette of Burlington, VT and Dorcus Charboneau Ryan of Dresden; brother-in-law, John McAuley, Sr. of Queensbury; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will take place at a time and date to be announced in the spring.

Donations may be made in Tom's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Homeless Veterans Adirondack Vets House, Inc. or the ASPCA.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Glens Falls Hospital doctors, nurses and staff on Tower #5 ICU and Tower #2.

Arrangements are under the care of Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury and those who wish send an online condolence may do so by visiting www.sbfuneralhome.com .

Met Tom at Boggies. He joined my husband and me for dinner at our home and elsewhere many times. He and I spent many hours talking about history. He was so smart and well read. He was generous and kind. I still miss him.

I have so many fond and crazy memories of Tom (and Tom), especially in the seventies. It was always a great joy to run into him. I am sad that that won't happen again. My condolences to his family and his dear friends.
