William E. Ingleston

WHITEHALL - William E. Ingleston, 86, passed away peacefully October 11, 2025, surrounded by his family at Glens Falls Hospital. He was born February 26, 1939, in Whitehall, N.Y., and was the son of George and Daisy (Moore) Ingleston.
He attended Whitehall Central School. His first job was at Steven's Garage in Whitehall. After a few years, he began working at Queensbury Motors in Glens Falls and then he went on to work on heavy equipment at Sperry's Garage in Glens Falls. He was a lifelong learner of all things automotive and eventually owned his own heavy equipment service business for many years. He retired in 2001 from Washington County Highway Department after 23 years.
Bill loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He spent many days during deer season hunting on the saddles with all of his cousins. In his later years, he enjoyed watching the birds and mowing his lawn.
William married Barbara J. Bromley of Whitehall in 1958, and they spent 67 wonderful years together. William and Barbara raised five boys; William, Peter, James, Timothy, and Bartholomew. William also helped raise Barbara's brother, John Bromley.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, George and Daisy (Moore) Ingleston; his sister, Mary (Ingleston) Lane; and his son, James A. Ingleston; and his brother-in-law, John W. Bromley.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bromley) Ingleston; his sons, William G., Peter E. (Kathy), Timothy R., and Bartholomew D. (Hannah) Ingleston. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Heath, Billy, Tyler, Trent, Jim (Lauren), Jennifer (Chris), Joe, Caitlin, Joseph, Kaycee, Martha (Lucas), and Liam. Bill also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and two very special "kids", Pat and Kathy Greenough.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in William's memory go to either the First Baptist Church or the Skenesborough Rescue Squad both located in Whitehall, N.Y.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on October 26, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, 41 Williams Street, Whitehall, N.Y.
