Anna Mae (Davenport) Smoyer, 78, passed away on October 20, 2021, at her home in Thornhurst Township, PA. She was the wife of Donald Harvey Smoyer, Jr., with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Girardville, PA, on December 19, 1942, Anna was the daughter of the late Walter T. Davenport and Minnie E. (Shoup) Davenport. Anna attended Pottsgrove High School, and worked as a nurse aide for Pennhurst Hospital until she retired in 1986. Anna loved decorating her home for every holiday, but her favorite holiday to celebrate was Christmas! Anna’s greatest memories came from the time she spent with her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored. They will miss her deeply. In addition to her husband, Anna is lovingly remembered by her sons, Joseph (& Kelly) Smoyer, Donald (& Lisa) Smoyer, and Walter (& Erin) Smoyer; her grandchildren, Amanda, Alexis, Kira, Aidan, Cody, and Tanner; her sister, Susan Buckingham; and her brother, Ronald Davenport, Sr. In addition to her parents, Anna is predeceased by her siblings, Walter Davenport, Jr., Elizabeth Amsler, Cathryn Weller, and Mary Hatfield. A viewing will take place on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place after the service at Highland Memorial Park. Don,children and grandkids, Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of Anna Mae. We were so happy when you came to Girardville for the Patty´s Day Parade at Zion Lutheran Church. We grew up in that church, Anna Mae and all the other Davenport, Shoup, and Grant kids. I think we were the biggest families enrolled. Zion is gone but we will remember those dear times and Anna Mae.
