Clifford Reigner Obituary

CLIFFORD C. REIGNER, 70, OF BARTO Clifford C. Reigner, 70, of Barto, PA passed away at St. Luke’s Hospice, Bethlehem, PA on Friday, December 11, 2015 after on-going medical issues. He was born in Pottstown to the late Kenneth and Lucetta (Treichler) Reigner. Cliff graduated Boyertown High School in 1963. While there he earned varsity letters in Football and Track and Field. In football, he played guard and defensive tackle and earned an All State defensive line honorable mention in 1962. He also was voted onto the 1960’s Reading Eagle All Decade team. In Track and Field, Cliff was a medalist in the distance medley relay at the 1963 Penn Relays. After graduation Cliff began working for Firestone Tire and Rubber and Occidental Chemical until retiring in 2003 after almost forty-years of service. He was an active member of New Hanover United Methodist Church. He participated in its Guatemala Medical Mission and the transportation ministry providing rides to medical appointments. He served in the Army National Guard at Ft. Dix. Cliff was a member of the Boyertown Area Football Assoc. Hall of Fame. He also volunteered time at various projects at the football stadium and track. He was also actively involved in the Class of 1963 Reunion Planning Committee. He enjoyed dancing at area venues featuring big band music and used his love of motorcycles to ride for good causes.Ever the sports fan, he traveled to watch his grandchildrens’ competitions as well as many other high school sports venues. He is survived by his children: Barbara A. Akins and her husband Mark, of Gilberstville; Douglas K. Reigner and his wife Jessica (Baudot), of Collegeville; and Jason C. Reigner and his wife Lynn (Dyckes), of Quakertown; siblings: Darlene Latshaw and husband Karl, of Barto; Carole Kehl and husband Rick, of Bechtelsville; and Randy Reigner, of Barto; grandchildren: Erin, Paige, Cody Akins, Avery, Quinn, Gavin, Patrick and Grace Reigner and many nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hanover United Methodist Church, 2211 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Officiating will be Rev. David M. Lewis. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Christ Union Cemetery-Niantic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cliff’s memory to the Boyertown Wellness Council, PO Box 87 Boyertown, PA 19512 or New Hanover UMC (For youth missions) at the above address.
