FRANCIS J. MCBRIDE, 88, OF PHOENIXVILLE Francis J. "Jake" McBride, 88, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Sunday morning, April 21, 2013. Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late James and Anne (Binstead) McBride. Jake served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was the owner of Modern Method Rug Cleaners & Upholstery of Phoenixville. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Phoenixville, where he was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. He was a charter life member of National Firemen's Shrine and Hall of fame, and a member of Friendship Fire Company. Jake was a model train enthusiast, he loved to fish and ride his moped. Most days Jake would be seen walking throughout the community, smiling and greeting everyone. Jake was very devoted to his family. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Annette Dougherty of Wayne, PA, and Margaret, wife of Ted Novak of Phoenixville, and his many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Sally Watkins, Agnes Shine, John McBride, James McBride and Joseph McBride. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Dayton and St. Mary's Streets, Phoenixville, PA, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. A viewing will be held in church on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
