Frank Thornton Obituary

FRANK K. THORNTON, 77, OF MONT CLARE Frank K. "Tex" Thornton, 77, husband of the late Irene B. (Dzuryachko) Thornton, of Mont Clare, PA, died on Monday, May 6, 2013 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Rio Grande City, TX, he was the son of the late Russell L. and Matilda (Valdez) Thornton. Tex was a graduate of Phoenixville High School and served in the United States Navy. He worked for Firestone Tire in Pottstown, PA, and then for the Phoenixville School District until his retirement. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church in Mont Clare, a member of Knights of Columbus St. Nicholas of Myra Council and Reilly Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps of Philadelphia. Surviving are his daughter, Monica, wife of John Smith of Nazareth, PA; his son, Frank and wife, Beth Thornton of Exton, PA; three grandchildren, Lindsay Smith, Brandon Smith and Julia Thornton, and his sister, Carol Ferguson of Royersford, PA. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Thornton and Russell Thornton. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Amelia and Landis Streets, Mont Clare, on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in St. Michael Cemetery, Mont Clare. Visitation will be held at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Please omit flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 203 Jacob Street, Mont Clare, PA 19453. Frank was such a sweet man who ALWAYS had a smile on his face. I am a teller where he banked and he came in every week in such a great mood. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
