I was watching 60 minutes tonight about 911 and remember you telling me about being on a train heading to the towers and late for a meeting when the train was stopped and the horrible sights. Joe was my boss for awhile at Weston, he had more confidence in my abilities than I did, he was also responsible for the largest raise I ever received there. He was a great, patient and joyful man, and so glad I had the opportunity to share in a small part of his life. God bless your family, RIP Joe and thanks for the memories.

Dear Spollen Family,

As a member of the Holly Family who grew up with the Spollens back in the 60's in Lafayette Park, King of Prussia, I have heard many stories through the years from my older siblings about the fun you all had together. Lots of laughs and just good old childhood memories were made. Then, our family moved away. Well, lucky for me, I discovered about 5-6 years ago that I now live in the same community as Katie Spollen, and our kids are friends. Katie and I have even rekindled the friendship that our mom's used to share. I left the church today, thinking that it was absolutely the most beautiful service I have ever attended. What a beautiful tribute to your brother, son, uncle, dad, and friend you all put together to honor Joe. What a beautiful family you are. I hope your Joe's legacy brings you comfort and peace.

I remember Joey as an easy going caring friend back in the sixties. Our families were close and we went to school together and spent all our childhood times playing wiffle ball, football, and going to the creek behind the swim club. I remember on hot summer days I would have to go deliver papers while everybody else would stay in the pool Joe would offer to help me. Thoughful and considerate even as a young boy. Many pleasant memories thanks to Joe and Michael in our younger days, A true friend and great person. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Joe

I never had the privilege of meeting this fine Christian man on this earth. One day in Heaven I will. His disease didn't totally take his life. I feel his wife leaving for Heaven before him, might have broken his heart. But now together for ALL eternity. Art Mauger

I will forever be grateful to Joe for taking me under his wing as an intern for 2+ years. Joe taught me so much and I am where I am today because of it. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. He touched so many people's lives in his time.

Back in the 60's Bobby, Michael and Ricky Holly would go to the creek behind the swim club with Joey, Micheal (Peachy) and Frankie everyday to catch frogs and turtles. After that, it was off to the Lafayette swim club all day. What a great caring neighborhood it was (Canonica's, Kunda's, Lucas, Hollys, Spollens etc)back then. Though we moved away in 1968, Joey was a rock star to all the Holly boys as we got older, always being referred to and reminiscing about. To me, Joey was my most memorable childhood friend; I bumped into him at Penn State later in 1974 finding the same smiling face that I had remembered. All those trips to the creek no doubt were the basis for Joe's passion for animals and wildlife in general.
If any of the Spollens or old Lafayette Park people ever want to reach out to me and talk about the good old days, that would be nice.
Love u Joe.

All the Holly boys would go to the creek behind the pool every day in the summer to catch frogs and turtles with Joey Micheal and Frankie; after that it was off to the Lafayette swim club for the rest of the day
Life was great then with a compassionate caring neighborhood; the Canonicas Kundas, Lucas,Enoch's ,etc
Though we moved away in 1968 Joey was a rock star in the eyes of all of us Hollys often referred to up to this day
To me personally Joey WAS the definition of my best childhood friend
Ran into Joey at penn state years later still the same easy going dude I remembered
See u soon my friend

Aunt Susie, Uncle Frank and Family, I know we haven't seen each other in a while, but I remember all the BBQ's and Funtime swimming at the house and all of our family Parties. I could always talk to Joe as he was a great listener. Joe was loved and will be missed. But take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you all. You all are in my thoughts and prayers, as well as I send all my love.

Dear Joe - I will miss you immensely, you were like a brother to me. I enjoyed our recent industrial and historical walks, our conversations and your wise counsel about life in general. I will always remember our childhood, coming up to see you in King of Prussia, our walks to the train yard by the river, going to 7-ll for snacks and playing touch football at the elementary school by your house. But most of all I will remember your smile, your positive attitude and your thoughts on self-reliance and personal responsibility. So long my good buddy, I hope to see you again on the other side. With great love and admiration, your cousin Mike
