RICHARD L. BENDER, 70, OF BOYERTOWN Richard “Rich” L. Bender, 70, of Boyertown, loving husband of Linda (Stapleton) Bender, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Berkshire Center. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Harrison W. and Ida M. (Roberts) Bender and raised by his grandparents Elwood and Florence Roberts. Rich was employed by William R Gift since 1968 until retirement in 2006. He was a life member of Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Co., West End F.C. and Amity F.C., and a social member of Gabelsville Athletic Assoc., Liberty F.C. and Keystone F.C. Surviving with his wife is son Michael R. Bender, husband of Heather, of Boyertown; daughter Krista L. Drissel, wife of Larry, formerly of Boyertown; granddaughters Chelsea, Shelby, Ashley, Emily, and Alexis; and great-grandson Leo. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie Bender. A funeral service will be Thursday, April 16, 11 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave., Gilbertsville. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rich’s name to Good Shepherd UCC Church for their bell tower restoration at 35 West Phila.
