Rita M. Lightcap (Moses), 65 of Pottstown, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday October 15, 2021. She was born December 9, 1955 in Athens, TN to the late Arvil E. Moses Sr. & Mildred Wise Moses. After her mother’s untimely passing in 1966 Rita was raised by her maternal uncle and his wife, the late C. Walter Wise Sr. & Mildred Wall Wise. Rita was a proud 1973 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and later, as a parent, served as President of the Pottsgrove Booster Club, and was the President and a founding member of the Pottsgrove Education Foundation. Rita’s philanthropic work included volunteering with The March of Dimes, Big brothers & Big Sisters of Philadelphia, The American Cancer Society, Hands Across America, and countless others. Rita’s kindness and generosity were unparalleled. Rita built a wildly successful 30+ year career in the banking industry. Armed with only her high school diploma, hard work, and unwavering determination, she truly embodied the lyrics of the great Helen Reddy song, “I Am Woman Hear Me Roar!” She first worked at Red Hill Savings, then Hill Financial before becoming a Vice President at National Penn Bank (formerly National Bank of Boyertown) and finally retiring as Senior Vice President of Mortgages with Harleysville National Bank during which time she sat on the Freddi Mac Board of Advisors. As any of Rita’s former employees will tell you “She was the best boss they ever had” The one thing in life that Rita was proudest of was her family. Rita leaves behind a legacy built with her loving husband of almost 50 years, Vietnam Veteran, Ronald J. Lightcap including her oldest son Ryan L. Lightcap and wife Stephanie Bean Lightcap of Gilbertsville, youngest son Derek J. Lightcap of Pottstown, and granddaughters Alexis, Sadie, & Josephine Lightcap. Rita is also survived by her brothers Chuck Moses and wife Florinda of Klamath Falls, OR, Toby Wise and wife Bonnie of Royersford, PA, and Todd Wise of Pottstown, PA along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and aunt & uncle that raised her, she is predeceased by her maternal grandparents Charles Andrew Wise and Verdi Roberts Wise, paternal grandparents David Moses & Hattie Lingerfelt Moses, and brother Wesley Moses Roberts. Rita was a one of a kind woman that will live on in the countless hearts she touched, for as it was said in the timeless classic, The Wizard of Oz, “A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others” Share that love with her family during visitation to be held Wednesday, October 20th from 6 pm-8 pm at Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory located at 359 King Street in Pottstown. A celebration of life service will be held the following morning, Thursday October 21 promptly at 10 am (friends may begin arriving at 9:30 am) at the chapel at Limerick Garden of Memories located at 44 Swamp Pike in Limerick with interment at the garden to follow immediately after. Rita was a friend that I will always hold dear in my heart. Her kindness and her giving nature were only two of her amazing attributes. Her smile just lit up a room. I will miss her so much, but will always remember her with a great deal of love and affection. Linda Price
