Robert James Strause
1946 - 2021
Robert James Strause, 74, of Fleetwood, PA, passed away on August 10, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1946 in Temple, PA. Robert was a 1964 graduate of Oley Valley High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He enjoyed a 40+ year career as a pipefitter, working at Firestone Tire Company and Occidental Chemical Corporation in Pottstown, PA, and Merck Pharmaceutical Company in West Point, PA. Robert enjoyed gardening, working on home projects, and spending time with his family and his beloved dogs. Robert was the son of Robert Melvin Strause and Eva Dellinger (Kantner) Strause, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Joan Carol (Reider) Strause, five children, Stefanie (John) Stevenson of Bel Air, Maryland, Michael (Maribel) Strause of Guam, Jeffrey (Audra) Strause of Fiskdale, Massachusetts, Timothy Strause of Etters, Pennsylvania, and Andrew (Angeli) Strause of Chesapeake, Virginia, and two stepchildren, Brent Sprecher of Pennsylvania and Karen Root of Florida. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Blanche Wanner, Shirley Baniszeski, Donald Strause, Patricia Messner, John Strause, Dennis Strause, Debra Johnson, and Catherine Strause. Robert was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Conrad. He is also survived by grandchildren Lindsey, Alex, Madalyn, Vivian, Micheal, Omri, Zachary and step grandchildren Patrick and Brittany and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11am at Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main Street, Oley, PA, followed by a memorial gathering of family and friends at Richard Seidel Park, 409 Memorial Highway, Fleetwood, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to Berks Animal Rescue League, 88 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 ( or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (, Robert Strause memorial fund).
