Stephen Petro Jr.

Stephen “Petey” Petro, Jr., 72, of Pottstown, passed away Monday July 30, 2018 at Temple University Hospital. Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mildred Miriam (Oyster) Petro. Stephen was a graduate of Pottstown High School, Phillips Andover Academy, a magna cum laude graduate of Susquehanna University, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa National Academic Honor Society and was an interpreter for the Franklin Institute EPA project. Stephen enjoyed collecting post cards. He also volunteered for Cat Angel Network and loved being a caregiver to those in need. Stephen always thought of his friends and family and would send them cards for every birthday and holiday. Surviving are two brothers Michael Anthony “Tony” Petro, husband of Sandra of Birdsboro, and Tommy Francis Petro, husband of Margaret of Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada; one sister Linda C. Petro of Pottstown; and six nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday August 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown. Burial will follow at Pottstown Cemetery West. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
