Theresa E. Witzel

THERESA E. WITZEL, 79, OF GILBERTSVILLE Theresa E. (Lennartz) Capozzi Witzel, age 79, of Gilbertsville, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of Carl A. Witzel, Sr., with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. Born in Lewistown, PA, she was a daughter of the late John E. Lennartz and Mary F. Weitzel Lennartz. Mrs. Witzel was a graduate of Eastern College, where she earned both a B.S. Degree and M.B.A. degree. She also graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing and practiced as a registered nurse for many years. She worked for various medical facilities, including Dr. Farb in Norristown, Sacred Heart Hospital, Norristown and became the Superintendent of Nursing at the Norristown State Hospital, from where she retired. Mrs. Witzel was a lifetime member of the Lower Pottsgrove Rod & Gun Club and a social member of the Gilbertsville Fire Company. Surviving in addition to her husband are: five sons: John J. Capozzi and his wife Marirose of Kent Island, MD; Carl A. Witzel, Jr. and his wife Claire of Collingdale, PA; Randy A. Witzel and his wife Becky of Linfield; Barry L. Witzel and his wife Terry of Pottstown; Mark J. Witzel and his wife Shannon of Douglassville; three daughters, Margaret Austin of Nottingham, PA; Elizabeth, wife of Guian Carlo Mercogliano of Chesterbrook; and Deborah, wife of William Diehl of Spring City; one brother, William J. Lennartz of Chambersburg, PA; four sisters, Gertrude Arnone of Seattle, WA; Florence Knepp of Baltimore, MD; Louise Hughes of Lewistown, PA; Eva Roddy of Mt. Union, PA; eighteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank E.Lennartz, Charlie W. Lennartz and John Lennartz, as well as her sisters, Marie Kauffman and Agnes Evans. A viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:50 A.M. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Road, Boyertown. Her funeral Mass will begin at 11 A.M. on Friday at the church. Father Marty Kern will officiate. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Pottstown.
