William Black, 89, of Douglassville, husband of Laura (Wolbramsky) Black for 64 years, passed away on Monday, March 5 at Keystone Villa Douglassville. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel and Sadie (Fishman) Black. Bill was a WWII Army veteran and a member of Congregation Mercy and Truth synagogue in Pottstown. He was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Temple University. He worked in the accounting office of William E. Howe & Co., Mayor Pollock Steel Corp. for many years, the former Hollingsworth Co. in Phoenixville, Heritage Dairy in NJ and most recently Summit Steel and Manufacturing. He was also an auditor for Amity Township for many years. Most of all, Bill was a loving husband, Dad and Grampy. His most loved activities were attending his children’s and later grandchildren’s activities and walking hand in hand with Laura. Surviving with his wife are daughters Leslie Haber, fiancé of Ted Encelewski, and Robin Romig, wife of Gary; son Neal Black, husband of Ruth; sister Alice Weinstein; and grandchildren Melissa Vasta, wife of Jim, Ryan Haber, Erin Lipari, wife of John, Kelli Kopec, wife of Jason, Gary Romig, Morgan Black and Jason Black. A funeral service will be Friday, March 9, at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown. Burial will follow in Congregation Mercy and Truth Cemetery, Pottstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill’s name to the American Cancer Society
