Arthur Bruno Obituary

Arthur M. "Art" Bruno

Hyde Park - Arthur "Art" Bruno, passed away at his home in Hyde Park on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the age of 71, due to heart failure.

Art was born in Poughkeepsie on October 15th, 1945 and was a lifelong area resident of Dutchess County.

He worked in the finance department at IBM from 1963-1992. Art later worked within the funeral service industry until the year 2000, and then acquired the role of Security Officer at Marist College, where he worked until his passing.

On June 14, 1969 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, Art married the former Brenda Nicalek. Mrs. Bruno currently survives at home in Hyde Park.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Brian Bruno and Nicholas Bruno; daughter-in-law, Amy Bruno; granddaughters, Ava Katherine Bruno and Scarlett Rose Bruno; siblings, Mary (Bruno) Decker, and her husband, Edward Decker; Ernest Bruno, and his wife, Roseanne Brunol; and Barbara (Bruno) VanDeWater, and her husband, Marquis VanDeWater; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Bruno and Rose (Filoia) Bruno.

Art was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Those who knew him were aware of his tremendous capacity for caring and compassion. He comforted and touched those he knew with ease. Sadly, the world is a poorer place without him. We love and miss you, Dad.

Wake services will be held at Sweet's Funeral Home in Hyde Park on Friday, June 2nd from 4-8 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, June 3rd at 10 am.

Brenda and Family. I am shocked and saddened to hear of Art's passing. He was one in a million that always put a smile on the face of those that knew him. Always remember that he is watching over all his loved one's from above. Look up from time to time and say hello. Never will he be forgotten. R.I.P.
