Bob H. Kortright

Highland - Bob (Babba) Kortright, a month shy of 88, did succumb to cancer on August 28th at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter Ava. He leaves his wife of 31 years Helen Kortright and his children Pam Falco, Donna Stratis, Carol Conklin, Donald and Robert, Maria and her husband Joe Haddad, Edwin Nieves and his wife Sita, Kenny Nieves, Tim Nieves and his wife Leslie, Nancy and her husband David Campbell, Steve Nieves and his wife Denise and Ava Kortright. He has been blessed with 36 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sister Alice Smith and brother Russell and is pre-deceased by: his daughter Barbara Bohan and infant son, Bobby H Jr., his brothers; Frank and Lawrence and sisters; Carol, Marion and Dorothy.

Bob was born and raised on a farm in Kerhonkson, NY, the son of George and Mable and lived out his last 30 plus years in Highland, NY. His career took him along the St. Lawrence Seaway and 20 years with Good Year before starting and supporting three successful tire businesses. At 80 Bob & Helen were blessed with Ava. His passion was for his children, grandchildren and the company of a loyal dog. He could always be found with a good book and a pocket full of candy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Augustine's RC Church, 55 Main Street, Highland on Friday morning, September 1st at 10:00am.

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Highland, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in support of Ava's future education. Please make checks payable to Ava Kortright and mail to DiDonato Funeral Home, P.O. Box 537, Marlboro, NY 12542.

My mother is carol kortright Bob kortright daughter Bob was my grandfather We spent many time's together He taught me nothing.This world is given to you.You have to go out and work for it Let me share a story One day me and my grandfather were riding and a service truck We saw a homeless person holding a sign up The sign.
Said Will work for food My grandfather stopped the truck and said do you know how to swinging A Hammer The homeless guy looked back at my grandfather And said i'm not that hungry Now I will never forget the look.My grandfather gave me that day He will be very missed He was a good person He did care about children He did care about other people Rest in peace grandpa I will see you with our heavenly father one day

I am so sad to hear my friend has passed away I haven't seen him since 1969 but I remember the fun times we had when he was with Goodyear His whole family has my deepest sympathies and may he rest in peace
