Brendan Behanna Obituary

Brendan D.

Behanna

DALLAS, TX - Brendan D. Behanna died of cancer at his home in Dallas, Texas on August 31, 2012. He is a former resident of Hyde Park, NY.

He is survived by his wife Holly Davis Behanna, whom he married in 2000. He is also survived by his mother Nancy and husband Raymond Romaine of Montgomery, NY, his father David and wife Barbara Behanna of Poughkeepsie, NY, and his sister Sara Behanna-Moseley, her husband Evan, and their son, Brendan's nephew Marino Moseley, of Germantown, MD. Brendan is also survived by his mother-in-law Cheryl Davis, and sister-in-law, Sally Davis, a devoted caregiver during his illness, of Dallas, as well as his father-in-law David Davis of Oklahoma. Brendan's grandfathers Clyde Behanna and his wife Joanne of Sarasota, FL and Joseph Kopczak and his wife Ruth of Queensbury, NY, and aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the family also survive him.

He was predeceased by his grandmothers Rita Behanna and Clare Kopczak. His time of illness was cheered by his canine companion of fifteen years, Zoe, and after she passed away in late 2011, by Mona, adopted from a shelter.

Brendan was born on March 2, 1972 in Bethesda, MD and grew up in Hyde Park, NY, graduating from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School.

He received a scholarship to the George Washington University and earned his J.D. from the SMU School of Law. He loved his job as a Solutions Consultant at LexisNexis Group, and received generous support from his co-workers and management at the company during his illness, for which the family is very grateful. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Christopher Stokoe and the staff at Texas Oncology for their caring medical care, and the staff of Harris Hospice, who assisted Holly with his home care in his final days.

Among many other qualities, Brendan will be remembered for his delightful sense of humor and his encyclopedic knowledge of and enthusiasm for music, film, and especially fine automobiles, motorcycles and scooters. His friends in the Get Bent Scooter Club were a delightful addition to his life.

Arrangements are being handled by the North Texas Cremation Society, Lewisville, Texas. Celebrations of Brendan's life will be scheduled at a later date in New York and Texas. Donations may be made in honor of Brendan to a campaign at the Oral Cancer Foundation online at http://donate.oralcancer.org/campaign/behanna, or mailed to the Oral Cancer Foundation at 3419 Via Lido #205, Newport Beach, CA 92663 (with "in memory of Brendan Behanna" on the notes line).
