Bridget Moore Obituary

Bridget J. Moore

Beacon - Bridget J. Moore, a lifelong resident of Beacon, passed away peacefully at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx on Saturday, September 28, 2013 while surrounded by her family. Bridget, affectionately known as the "Tumorinator," undertook her prolonged struggle with cancer courageously and with infinite optimism. Bridget maintained her sense of humor, her sense of self, and her loving spirit all the way until her final breath. She was 53 years old.

Born on June 3, 1960, Bridget was the daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Brooks) Moore. A graduate of Mount Saint Mary's High School in Newburgh, Bridget spent her 20 year career diligently and tirelessly working as a housekeeper at the Residence Inn by Marriott Hotels in Fishkill. She joyfully retired in 2008.

Bridget lived her life with enthusiasm and traveled extensively: she zip lined over the Mountains of Vancouver, Canada, sailed through the Southern Seas, and hiked the Mayan Ruins of Belize. She took great pride in walking everywhere and especially enjoyed her walks over the Beacon-Newburgh Bridge. She also enjoyed rock and roll music, wrestling, Walt Disney World, and the New York Yankees. Bridget was awarded the "Aunt of the Year" award by her nephew, Brenden, which she graciously accepted.

Bridget is survived by her sister and brother in law, Coleen and David Genn of Beacon; her nephew Brenden Moore of Chicago, IL; Catherine and Donna Alyea of Lutz, FL; the Brooks Family of Aurora, IL; and the Gilbert Family. She is also survived by her four legged feline friend, Kitty.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 5 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon. Interment will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery in Beacon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mid Hudson Animal Aid, Inc., 54 Simmons Lane, Beacon, NY 12508, www.midhudsonanimalaid.org or the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, 1980 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567 with checks made payable to the HVHC Foundation.

It saddens me terrible to hear that Bridget passed away, my heart and thoughts go out to the entire Moore family during this difficult time. During all the time our families spent together at "weekly" parties and our trips to the shore every year I always remember Bridget having a smile on her face and that easy going attitude....it was the simple things in life that made her happy. If more people in this world were like her it would be a much better place. Bridget will be greatly missed.

Our Deepest Sympathy,

Dave & Carrie Gilbert

I am so sorry to hear about Bridget. I knew her through my sister and brother-in-law who were also involved in the same group that Jon Goodel mentioned. I remember that she used to always enjoy a good laugh as well as stirring up a good laugh.
My thoughts and prayers are with Bridget, and your families at this time. God Bless.

We are so surprised to hear about Bridget. She was always so full of life. As neighbors we were in and out of each others house playing and just being silly. We are all thinking of you and praying to God that he will stay close to all of you in the days ahead.
Love,
The McGarveys

She was in the same young adult group as I was in the early '80s. Very outgoing, and remember her well. Very sorry to learn of her passing.
