Claire M. Luse

Red Hook - Claire Murray Luse, 86, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. She previously lived in Marshfield Hills, MA and Poughkeepsie, NY.

Born on August 2, 1934, in Medford, MA, she was the daughter of the late H. Russell and Winifred (Russell) Murray. Claire married George Franklin Luse II on October 26, 1957 in Valley Forge, PA. George predeceased her on October 23, 2011.

Claire achieved her BA degree in Journalism from Penn State University and worked for a time at various newspaper companies. She then went on to care for her family and spent much of her time volunteering for the Junior League. She also enjoyed attending shows at The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck. Claire was a member of the North Community Church in Marshfield Hills, MA, Tri Delta Sorority, the Lifetime Learning Institute at Bard College, and the Penn State Alumni Association.

Survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Anne & Frank Kara of Poughkeepsie, NY; her son, George "Jeff" F. Luse III, of Pleasant Valley, NY; her grandchildren, Jamie Lyn Kara of Poughkeepsie, NY, Emily Mary Luse of Lagrangeville, NY, Jennifer Claire Kara of Syracuse, NY, Samuel Heaton Luse of Pleasant Valley, NY; 8 nieces and nephews; in addition to extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck.

Memorial donations may be made in Claire's memory to The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck, 661 Route 308, Rhinebeck, NY 12572 (www.centerforperformingarts.org/support-the-center) .

My condolences to all of Claire's family. I'll always have fond memories of her and hope she passed away happy in the knowledge that she led a good life raising her family and would be reunited with the love of her life and husband George.
