Daniel Kelleher Obituary
LaGrange - Daniel F. Kelleher, 90, of the Town of LaGrange, passed away on March 17, 2015 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was born in Schenectady, NY on February 5, 1925, the son of Daniel F. & Margaret Bounds Kelleher. He was a W.W. II U.S. Army Air Corp. Staff Sgt. from 1943-45 serving as a ball turret gunner on Bombers in Italy and flew 19 missions before the War ended. Following his service he attended R.P.I. in Troy, NY and graduated with a Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Daniel married Catherine M. Baum on November 4, 1950 in St. Luke's Church in Schenectady, NY. She survives at home. He went onto work for 36 years at IBM as an Electrical Engineer and retired in 1986 from IBM in Kingston, NY. He is a member of St. Martin de Porres Church, IBM Retirees and the K of C 1046 in Wappinger Falls, NY. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dan enjoyed the outdoors and hiking with his family. He was an avid bridge player, travelled extensively around the world and enjoyed baseball especially the N.Y. Yankees. He loved all sports associated with Notre Dame.
Survivors include his son & wife: Michael & Deborah Kelleher of Saunderstown, R.I.; daughters: Susan M. Kohler of Fishkill, NY; Theresa Herrmann of Ansonia, Conn.; Eileen M. Winkley of New Milford, Conn.; brother: William Kelleher of Delmar, NY; sisters: Mary Kelly of Schenectady, NY; Joan Holzhauer of Ballston Spa, NY and Marjorie Shea of New York City. There are 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 2014, 3-7 PM at Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 10AM in St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will follow in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Marin de Porres Church or the charity of your choice.
