Dennis Tompkins Obituary
Birmingham, AL - Dennis A. Tompkins, age 69, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on May 4, 2020. The son of Doris and James Tompkins, Dennis was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 9, 1950. He grew up in Hyde Park and graduated from F. D. Roosevelt High, and was an Army veteran who served his country in its time of need.
Some of his many gifts from God that Dennis possessed were his bubbly personality, kindness, friendliness and his ability to never meet a stranger. His great personality contributed to his successful career as a Hotel Manager while living in the South. His greatest joys in life were helping others, touring elegant homes, test driving cars and spending time with friends.
Dennis is predeceased by his father and brother, Charles.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Doris Tompkins; loving and supportive friend Lorenza Ferrell; sister Jennifer Norton and husband Joe; and brother James and wife Sharon. Also by five nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cremation has taken place in Alabama. There will be no services at this time

Doris, Jennifer, Jimmy and family so sorry about Dennis passing, I had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions and his humor impressed me so much. Doris would always tell me the funny cards we would send her for occasions. RIP Dennis. Doris stay strong you now have two sons and Jim Sr watching over you. I am here if you need a listening ear. Love you and Dennis RIP You are surely gonna be missed.
