Edith Roberto

Highland, NY - Edith Roberto, 91, of Highland passed away Wednesday, May 8th at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Edith was born August 21, 1921 in New York City the daughter of the late Joseph and Pasqualina Mollar Picco. She attended Highland Schools.

On October 17, 1948 she married Lawrence Roberto in St. Augustine's Church. Her beloved husband of 61 years predeceased her on May 29, 2011. Edith was a homemaker and also worked at Wallace's for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Senior Citizens and in her earlier years liked to travel with her husband spending several winters in Florida.

Edith is survived by her brother Eugene Picco and his wife Patricia of Highland, NY her two sisters: Gloria Palumbo and husband John of Wappingers Falls, NY Janet Picco of Saugerties, NY, along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Enrico Picco. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 10th from 4pm-8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main Street, Highland, NY 12528. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, 10:00 am at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Highland, NY with burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.

It was a great pleasure and honor to know Edith and Larry and act as their physician. I will miss them both. But I am happy to know they are together again.
