Edward Nazak Obituary

Edward W. Nazak

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - Nazak, Edward W. "Pop"

Strong. Kind. Loving. Generous. Always upbeat

Ed lost his 3-year battle with cancer on May 24, 2014 at home, but not without putting up a hell of a fight. The entire time, he remained cheerful and joked with his family to help them through the ordeal. Ed never complained, nor did he dwell on himself.

Ed was born September 21, 1945 in Johnson City, NY to Wally Nazak and Anna (Danyo) Nazak, who predecease him.

On June 7, 1970 Ed married his best friend, his "Dear Darling", Karinn (Orzell) Nazak who survives at home in Wappingers Falls. They were blessed with the births of three sons who also survive; Jay, Nick and Greg, whom he was so proud of. Ed adored his sons and they became his best friends. An avid outdoorsman, Ed and his family enjoyed fishing, canoeing, hiking, hunting, swimming, and just hanging out together.

Ed and Karinn always looked forward to their trips to Atlantic City. The shows, the slots, the boardwalk and the ocean and just spending the time together.

Love and marriage introduced Ed to two marvelous, caring daughters-in-law, Jen (Reale) Nazak and Cathy (Biasotti) Nazak whom he loved as his own.

His life was further enriched with the births of five granddaughters; Lindsay, Rachel & Alyvia, and Zoey & Cortney. Ed loved to hug and spoil "his girls" and would take them fishing and target shooting. He is so proud of all they've accomplished during his life and is so sorry he cannot continue to grow with them.

Ed proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Korea and Germany.

He was employed by IBM for 29 years as an electrical technician. After the downsizing in 1993, Ed owned and operated his own successful family business, Prizm Pools. After closing Prizm Pools, Ed drove the bus for the seniors at the Manor at Woodside in Poughkeepsie, which he thoroughly enjoyed and made many friends.

He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA, NYSRPA, and the Hudson Valley Sportsmen's Association.

Ed is also survived by sister Nancy Jones, nephew Jeff Jones, godsons Zak Cron, Mark Felker and Chris Jones, goddaughter Rene Polizotto, cousin Olga Felker and Aunt Susie "I love you more" Nazak who was like a second Mom throughout his life.

Ed loved his extended family. He cherished his parents-in-law Bill and Mary Orzell, sisters-in-law Nikki Slocum, Lisa (Ed) Kachmar, Pam Lockwood, brother in-law Bill (Sue) Orzell, nephews Jess Cron, Jake and Jared Kachmar, niece "Princess" Hailley (Kyle) Harvey, and faithful companion, dog Emmet who all survive. Brothers-in-law Richard Cron and Kevin Slocum predeceased him.

Ed is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and the Blatz family. Special gratitude to Father Alex Vinogradov of St. Gregory Church for all his blessings.

The family thanks all his doctors and nurses at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Premier Medical Group and Hudson Valley Oncology.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Gregory Church of Wappingers Falls or Hudson Valley Hospice.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday, May 27 at Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY To send a condolence or for directions, visit www.delehantyfuneral.com

Dear Karinn, I just bumped into Nick and Kathy and I heard the sad news. There are not enough words for me to express my condolences. May Ed rest in peace. I can say with great honor that he was one of the best neighbors I ever had. I am glad to know that he was in my life as a friend and neighbor willing to help and be there no matter what. I have great memories of the superbowl parties and sharing great times with him. Once again there are no words to express how I feel about his passing. I am sorry I did not come to the wake to pay my respect. God Bless Ed until we all meet again!!

Karinn & family, We were so sorry to hear about Eddie's recent passing and his long battle with cancer. It's been way too many years since we've seen both of you. But in reading Eddie's story of his life, we are happy to see the many blessings of children and grandchildren he was able to enjoy. I have many fond memories of Eddie in our teenage years in Jr. R Club and choir growing up at St. Mary's in Binghamton. His humor was limitless! And what wonderful neighbors they were on our street. May God grant him Memory Eternal - Vechnya Pomyat and may He bring you comfort and peace in your sorrow, Karinn and to your family.
