Edward Sadowski, Sr.

WAPPINGERS FALLS - Edward C. Sadowski, Sr., 69, a lifelong area resident, died on April 21, 2012 at home.

Born in Poughkeepsie on October 6, 1942, he was the son of the late Francis and Katherine (Scraub) Sadowski. On September 6, 1980 in Beacon, Edward married Barbara Lichtman who survives at home.

Edward proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. For 30 years until his retirement in 2005, he worked as a Purchaser for Bry Dain Lumber in East Fishkill and previously for Linge Lumber Company in Wappingers Falls. Edward was a member of the New Hackensack Fire Department and a charter member of the Wappinger Elks Club #2609.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his children, Edward C. Sadowski, Jr. of Hawaii, Ashley L. Griswold and her husband Timothy J. of Kittery, ME, and Amanda L. Sadowski of Middletown; his grandchildren, Ryan E. Sadowski of Hawaii and Gavin J. Griswold of Kittery, ME; and his siblings, Marion Vantine of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Frances Moret of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Donald Sadowski of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Fred Sadowski of Highland, and Douglas Sadowski of Poughkeepsie. Edward was predeceased by his daughter, Karen L. Sadowski in 2006.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 12 pm at the funeral home with military honors.

Memorial donations may be made "in memory of Karen Sadowski" to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E 33rd St., Floor 3, New York, NY 10016-5337 (www.kidneygny.org).
