Edwin Hoxsie Obituary
Hoxsie, Jr.
WEST GREENWICH, RI - Edwin J. Hoxsie, Jr., Fire Chief Emeritus, age 91, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Kent Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Wanda J. (Stasiowski) Hoxsie for 46 years.
A lifelong resident of Nooseneck Hill Rd., West Greenwich, he was the son of the late Edwin J. and Annie P. (Woods) Hoxsie.
Edwin served Honorably in England during WWII in the US Army Air Corp. Chief Hoxsie was a charter member of the West Greenwich Volunteer Fire Co. #1. He dedicated over 61 years of service to the Fire Co., whereas for over 35 years, he served as Chief. He was past West Greenwich Town Council President, Town Moderator, Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent of the Town Highway Dept., former Chairman of the Republican Town Committee, and he served on the Board of Directors for the RI Association of Fire Chiefs. Edwin was a 32nd Degree Mason, Manchester Lodge, Coventry.
He was the father of retired Fire Chief Edwin J. Hoxsie III and his wife Barbara of Stanford, NY and Chief Brian R. Hoxsie (West Greenwich Fire Co.#1) and his wife Jeanne of Coventry. He was the grandfather of Eddie, Zachary, Nicholas and Alicia Hoxsie. Edwin was the brother of Patricia Howard of North Kingstown and the late Shirley Dunbar.
His Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10:00 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117), Coventry. Interment with military honors in Woodland Cemetery, Coventry.
Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 7 pm.

To the Hoxsie Boys and family-At these times words are often hard to come by. I know you will miss your father greatly as will many in his community. Ed was an inspiration to those of us who worked with him and he always led by example. I count myself very fortunate to have been an associate of Ed Hoxsie, a man one could always count on to do or say the right thing.
