"Betty" Strang

Wappingers Falls - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Strang, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 83.

Daughter of the late Isaac and Elizabeth Cservak Morey, she was born June 30, 1933 in Poughkeepsie. Betty was a graduate of Wappingers Central School in 1952. On July 24, 1955 at Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls she married Robert M. Strang. Mr. Strang survives at home in Wappingers Falls.

Betty worked at IBM in Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill as a circuit designer, receiving many awards. She retired in 1990 after 37 years of service. She was an active member of Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls where she was involved with the Altar Guild. Betty enjoyed her vacations, traveling by car to 36 States and Canada. Later she made 20 flights across the Atlantic to tour Europe, Egypt, Morocco and Russia. Perhaps her most unusual trip was on the Trans-Siberian Railroad. Her favorite city, of course, was Paris.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Bob, she is survived by her son, Jonathan James Strang and his wife, Diane Flynn of Culpepper, Virginia; her grandsons, Curtis Jon and Daniel Robert Strang of Culpepper, Virginia; as well as her cousins, Joan and Cathy Hamilton of Wappingers Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the family plot in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
