Enid Dunn Obituary

Enid E. Dunn

GAFFNEY, SC - Ms. Enid E. Dunn, 85, went peacefully home to the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Gaffney, SC.

Born August 25, 1925, in Walden, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Elsie VanLueven Dunn. She made Poughkeepsie, NY her home for over 75 years.

Enid graduated from Poughkeepsie High School when it was located at the site of the former Our Lady of Lourdes High School. She also attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arlington, NY.

She shared her life with Martin Habinowski, who predeceased her, with whom she raised their four children. She loved being a mom and homemaker.

She held a few part-time jobs, but one she was particularly proud of was being a school crossing guard at Smith School near Lexington Ave. She truly enjoyed seeing the children smile.

She also worked for The Office of the Aging, on the main mall, for over 20 years as a payroll clerk, until her retirement at age 74.

She is survived by her son Stephen (Donna) Habinowski of Hollywood, FL; two daughters, Julia (Donald) Wyant of Cowpens, SC, and Karen (Miles) Prescott of Poquoson, VA; two sisters, Dottie (Earl) Thitchener of Camden, SC, and Pauline Elliot of Napa, CA; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Diane, who always held a special place in her heart.

A private memorial service was held at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, Spartanburg, SC.
